How do I schedule a lesson?
To schedule a lesson please call 573-694-0640 or email Sydney, our administrative assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be happy schedule a lesson time for you! Please be prepared to let us know the type of lesson you’d like to do, the number of participants, and if you’ll be needing equipment; in which case we will need each participants shoe size and height. Also, it is important that customer’s know that having Kirby as an instructor is not always guaranteed.
What is the cost for a lesson?
Hourly Rate on Kirby’s Boat: $150 per hour
Half Day Rate on Kirby’s Boat: $500 (4 consecutive hours or more)
Hourly Rate on Customer’s Wakeboard Specific Boat: (2 hour minimum required) $125 per hour +Travel Fee
Cable Park Lesson at Revolution Cable Park: $100 per hour (cable pass not included)
*Important Note: The hourly rate begins when you leave the dock. The boat ride back to the dock is complimentary. If the normal cove we ski in is unsafe (on busy lake weekend or holidays), your coach will boat to a safer location which will be included in your time.
How long will it take to do a lesson?
This depends on the type of lesson scheduled and number participants signed up. It is best to plan for the hour(s) you scheduled plus 20 minutes (set-up and travel to/from the cove).
What equipment should I bring?
Kirby’s School of Wake provides all equipment for the lessons upon request. Student’s height and foot size will be needed to have the proper size boards prepared. Please let us know if you have any other special requests such as tubing, surfing, etc. Please bring swimsuit and towel. If you already have a wakeboard feel free to bring what you are comfortable riding.
How many guests can come on the lesson?
Up to six passengers are allowed on lessons including the student(s). Do you have a larger group? Please contact us to inquire about options available.
How and when is payment taken?
Payment is taken upon completion of the lesson. We accept cash, credit, and now accept Venmo.
Where should we check-in for the lesson?
Lake of the Ozarks: Check in at the Kirby’s School of Wake office at the Iguana Watersports Topsiders location.
Fort Myers, Florida: Check in with Coach Kirby at the boat – located at the dock just outside of Sweetwater Landing Marina’s main office.
Where are the Docks located?
To get to the docks, drive through the Topsiders parking lot and follow the signs for Iguana Boat Rentals.
Is there a bathroom or a changing room on site?
Lake of the Ozarks: Yes – there is a restroom located in Topsiders during business hours.
Fort Myers, Florida: Yes – for your convenience there is a restroom located just near the boat barn.
How early should we arrive?
Plan to arrive 10 minutes early to load the boat and get liability waivers signed.
How do we get a liability waiver signed if the parent/guardian will NOT be present at the lesson?
Click the following link to print and sign the liability waiver and photo release prior to the lesson. You may scan and email it back to Sydney at email@example.com or have the student bring it to the lesson.
What are the requirements to do a lesson on my personal boat?
The boat has to be a wakeboard specific boat to ensure a high quality lesson and student safety. There is also a travel fee of $2 per mile (by water) from Iguana @ Topsiders or Sweetwater Landing Marina if a Kirby’s School of Wake instructor comes to you for the lesson. There is a two hour minimum for lessons on customer’s personal boats.
What are some local accommodations you suggest?
Lake of the Ozarks: We suggest the Lodge at Old Kinderhook. In addition to the Lodge, guests can choose from golf cottages, villas, patio homes, and estate homes all offering fully equipped kitchens and laundry.
